Cattlesoft, Inc. was founded in July of 1999 by Terrell and Penny Miller. The company’s first software program, CattleMax, was initially designed as a custom cattle software program for Hilliard Ranches, a large local cattle ranch.
With exceptional response to the software, Terrell and Penny determined the need for an easy-to-use cattle software program at an affordable price. Since that time, Cattlesoft, Inc. is pleased to have over 8,000 farms and ranches in over 70 countries using the CattleMax, LonghornMax, and EquineMax software programs for their record keeping needs. In addition, Cattlesoft also has Internet properties such as domain names and websites to help reach cattle producers online, and offers online buying of livestock and identification products by popular manufacturers.
In 2006, Cattlesoft was pleased to be recognized as an Aggie 100 recipient. This is an award developed by the Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship at the Mays Business School of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The Aggie 100 recognizes the 100 fastest growing Aggie-owned or Aggie-operated businesses.

The Cattlesoft Team
Penny Miller brings additional cattle knowledge by showing registered heifers and market steers at the county fair as well as the major shows in Texas. With a BS and MS in Agricultural Development (now called Agricultural Leadership) from Texas A&M University, Penny blends the knowledge of cattle production and personal development skills to assist with marketing efforts and head the customer service team.
Terrell Miller has strong computer and business experience, having a BA in Information and Operations Management, and an MBA both from Texas A&M University. He is responsible for the marketing efforts of the company, as well as overseeing the programming and development aspects of the software. Being around family Texas Longhorn cattle helped strengthen his cattle experience.
Nathan Boles has experience with the Texas Cooperative Extension and the ag chemicals business. Nathan and his wife Phyllis own a herd of commercial Brangus cattle in Winters, Texas. After retiring from years of working in weekly newspapers, Nathan purchased CattleMax in 2006 to keep his own cattle records, and joined Cattlesoft to be a part of helping other producers become more successful.
Ken Lyon toured in the US Navy and went on to make a career in computer programming. He now resides near Yantis, Texas with his wife Becky and their small herd of commercial Brangus cattle. Ken has used CattleMax since the first version, and his goal is to provide other CattleMax customers with the same friendly, quality support he has received.
